Simple 301 Redirects provides an easy method of redirecting requests to another page on your site or elsewhere on the web. It’s especially handy when you migrate a site to WordPress and can’t preserve your URL structure.

By setting up 301 redirects from your old pages to your new pages, any incoming links will be seemlessly passed along, and their pagerank (or what-have-you) will be passed along with them

Note: The format for requests is ‘/about.htm’ and the format for redirects is ‘http://www.domain.com/about/’ in order to emulate the way Apache handles 301 redirects and because while you can only accept requests to your site, you can redirect to anywhere.

How to add a link “edit” on your blog posts

All tips are welcome to save some time, huh? That’s why I use a little trick to save precious seconds: I added an “edit” link in the header of each article published on my blog.

I will tell you how to avoid searching your post in the admin panel and waste your precious time when you need to edit a published article.

So, here is the solution to add an “Edit” link on top of each post of your WordPress blog:

Add the following code in the templates pages ”single.php” and “index.php” (or wherever you think appropriate):

That’s all folks! Now you just have to click on the Edit link to update any post on your blog.

Important : This Edit link is only displayed when you are connected as an Administrator, the visitors of your blog won’t see it of course.

(Français) Mettre à jour automatiquement WordPress chez OVH : La solution !

Cela fait déjà un bon moment qu’il est possible de mettre à jour la version de WordPress directement depuis la partie Administration de votre blog. Mais hélas, si votre site est hébergé chez OVH, vous avez peut-être rencontré des problèmes lorsque vous avez essayé de faire la mise à jour.

En effet, pour que la mise à jour de WordPress fonctionne chez cet hébergeur , il faut préalablement vous assurer que PHP5 est bien activé sur votre site.

Pour cela, il vous suffit d’ouvrir le fichier .htaccess à la racine de votre site (dans le répertoire www) avec votre logiciel FTP favori. Là il vous suffit d’ajouter la ligne suivante après # End WordPress : SetEnv PHP_VER 5

Une fois le fichier mis à jour, il vous suffit simplement de cliquer sur le bouton “Mettre à jour vers la version X.X.X” depuis le Tableau de bord de la partie administration de votre blog.

Une fois arrivé sur la page WordPress updates, il ne vous reste plus qu’à cliquer sur le bouton “Mettre à jour automatiquement” pour lancer la procédure de mise à jour.

Et voilà, le tour est joué ! Votre blog WordPress va se mettre à jour automatiquement. Alors elle n’est pas belle la vie ?
